Trying to be relaxed but the owner with the bad hair is an ass clown... I was or still am in the market for a 4X slopestyle rig and the guy just completely sidelined me, he looked at me up and down before hand as if I was a jerkoff and I was bothering him.. CC in hand and ready, it wasn't like I was a lurker..

I did inquire about the Jamis line that he carried and what he would recommend for me (since I only have ridden an older Dakar cromo) what I was aiming for.. He replied... "What is that, and I don't know anything about it!", moreso the look he gave with the response is what angered me. Still not put-off by that, I asked for some small parts.. i.e. SIS derailleur cable...
1: He didn't know his own pricing and had to ask his mechanic. ok not bad...Then insisted it was $2.00 a foot.. sure why not???
2: His own mechanic said is was $1.50 a foot and said "it's right here on the sheet" He still insisted that it was $2.00 a foot. His mechanic looked at him like he was crazy...
3: Lastly, I asked for 16 feet because I needed to do a couple of rigs over. his response was... "Absolutely not!!! I will never sell you that much... What are you kidding?"

I laughed at him and said, I'll just go up the highway to THE better shop...

IMO I wouldn't even waste my time going back there. I'm not a 12 year old kid who has not a
clue and wanted to waste time asking 20 questions... But even if I was, it's only knowledge... AND before anyone chimes in stating he might have been busy, NO he only had one guy there and it was the mechanics' friend....


What a shame..

D! Sorry to hear that. What he did simply wasn't just a faux pas but a full on demonstration of d**k. Maybe he just had a bad day or was trying to be funny. In any event, take your business to a shop that's interested in cultivating loyal customers.
 
That's a shame man. Sorry to read that.

Luckily there are plenty of solid bike shops to choose from. Support the ones that do the right thing.
 
Hey, its just business lost for the shop in a bad economy. I'd just be happy with making a sale if I was the owner. I wonder what happened to the mechanic afterwards since he insisted it was $1.50.
 
I know money is money in this day and age and I wanted and still want to purchase a 4X dual. Usual versions cost upwards of $1000 and beyond. Easy sale.. and then the SIS cable situation... Who knows.. 😛

Yes. I had the same experience with the guy with the bad hair day. I asked him if they can face a bottom bracket shell, and gave me the look as if I dont know what I am talking about. I never went back to the store again eversince.
 
Point taken. I just head over to Campmor in Paramus to get my bike needs if and when I am in the area. Their selection definitely parallels their service.
 
Kinda diggin up an old post here... But I work at a shop around the corner from them and I've had plenty of experience with that shop. Crazy hair guy is the owner. His business is going under and he nickel and dimes you everyway he can just to stay alive. Hes always been busy and just can't be bothered with anything.

Now The mechanic there is a pretty good guy. He'll spend time with you, talk with you about the bikes and work with you...as long as the owner's not around lol
