I'm not getting my MTB back from The Workshop anytime soon, so I figured I'd try to get a fix on some dirt and gravel. My understanding is that gravel and dirt roads no longer count towards a "dirt" bonus...
It was cloudy up North, sunny down South, and foggy when I returned to the North.

I signed up for the Sourlands Semi Classic ride back in early January and then 2 weeks later got COVID. Spent the last 3+ weeks trying to get ready for this ride as an early season fitness gauge and then I woke up Sunday morning with a head cold. Said F it and despite the damp cold weather and predicted winds I went anyway and I would have had serious FOMO if I didnt go.
We were a group of 3 so we at least had some company during the misery. This route is really good with some of the roads from HOH and a touch of Gravel here and there (10%) We suffered through what felt like 30+ miles of headwind on the back half and I felt so miserable at the end I didnt even have the energy to round up to a metric century like last year. had I not been sick I could have managed another 2.3 miles. took me almost 30 minutes longer than last years nearly perfect conditions but at least I finished.
These are the kinds of rides that make me wonder why I ride a bike sometimes...then again once I feel better this will get added to the "remember when..." ride discussions with the crew.
Ran into my nemesis stealth drafter today. Drafted her for about a mile until stopped for utility work. She's actually pretty friendly. Still red tide on the beaches.

Should be a wind bonus!! 😉. It was tough pushing it today but at least the headwind was on the way to the beach, tailwind heading back!!! Charged my Garmin on the way to the ride start and forgot to start it, had to grab gpx file from @cdrmtbiker ….thanks bro. At least this time I took a couple of pics.
