The Legend

Getting dispatched from NorthEast PA to Vegas usually means heading through Colorado and in March usually means chaining up the tires to get over the mountains. This trip dispatch asked me to avoid the storm brewing out west and go under it to Kingman, AZ and then up to Sin City. Well I guess that means I'll be within 5 miles of Boulder City, NV and the place I've been hearing so much about in Bootleg Canyon. This place is all that, smooth easy cross-country, technical stuff, rocky climbs, scorching fast downhills, beautiful scenery, just about everything anyone could ask for on a day off. Clear, high 60's, a breeze, snow capped mountains behind the Vegas skyline to the north, Lake Mead to the south, and a check mark off my bucket list.

This caught my attention, the truck next to me while getting loaded with lettuce in Yuma, AZ. Where I try and ride whenever possible this guy surfs the west coast on his downtime.

its amazing how this hobby combined with your occupation lets you to feel almost every piece of earth in the US ...really impressive !!

if i rode back than and knew how awesome that trail system is maybe i would have lived in vegas for more than 2 days before coming back east. lol.

I've often wondered as i was on the highway if there were truck drivers that mountain biked. Because i imagined it would put them in a position to see some pretty cool trails.

Thanks everyone.

Couple more random shots, Fort Wingate, NM on the return trip. It's still Winter up at this trailhead so I had to stick to a 15 mile road ride.
