JORBA: Six Mile Run
JORBA.ORG
JORBA is offering chainsaw safety training October 4th and 5th 2025. There's no cost, but you will need to sign the JORBA waiver and be affiliated with a park or chapter.

Saturday will be in the classroom and Sunday will be in the field at Dickerson Mine Preserve.

Lunch will be provided. You need to have your own chainsaw and safety equipment (helmet with visor, ear protection, chainsaw chaps, gloves, and sturdy shoes). Some on the forum may have equipment you could borrow.

Electric chainsaws are welcome.

As of right now, we've got about 8 spots.

We've had lots of participants over the years and it's always been a great learning and networking event. If you've taken it before, but would like a refresher, you're welcome.

DM me if interested.

I’d like to attend, but I am not affiliated with any single park. I hop around mainly for storm damage in northwest nj, but across borders as well.

We still have a few spots open. If you don't have equipment, we can find you someone to borrow the equipment from before hand or you could borrow someone's equipment in the class.

We still have 3 spots open. If you're on the fence, I'm happy to disucss any concerns you have. Please reach out.

I think we have a full house now. Thanks in advance to everyone for committing a weekend to learn about safely using a chainsaw 🙂

We’ll be sending out emails to everyone about logistics and waivers.

I’ve found one of the most challenging parts of operating a chainsaw is analyzing where to cut and what order. It always makes sense to step back and think more about he next cut. Most of all, be sure to bring your questions!
