Coldest temperature you rode in was?????

Low single digits on top of Broad Mtn near Jim Thorpe. Not sure what the temp was during the ride, but a thermometer down in the town after the ride was showing 8 F, so we were guessing it was a bit colder.

I have a fair amount of cold weather gear, so I can be comfortable when riding in those temps. I agree it's less fun on the road with the wind on your face.

A couple of years ago I made the mistake of wearing my skiing helmet on a cold ride. Definitely won't do that again (over-heated very quickly). A full face might be tolerable.

I've been in a lot of single digits but 2 rides stand out
1-around 10 d creek crossing pulleys froze up had to pee on them to free them up
2- wasn't the coldest day maybe teens but wind at 20-25 mph at the top of summit 1 I thought my eyeballs had frozen open

If this morning wasn't the coldest, it's a near second. -11° feel.

And on the other end of the spectrum you have this from the summer.

It's almost funny how you can be so close to dressing correctly, but be one article of clothing off and it can ruin the ride. That was my situation today. Bid thermal knickers- check. Tights - check. Club Ride jeans as third over layer - check. Thermal base layer + long sleeve jersey + wind breaker - check. Ski socks + warm flat pedal shoes - check. Good winter gloves - check. Proper head gear - complete miss. Thus I didn't even last a mile into the ride before I had to bail. Felt like such a noob... 🙄

Sounds like how I was geared up today but worked perfectly for me

I had an issue as well. I only had bibs/knee warmers and thermal tights. I needed one more layer. My hips/ass were getting cold towards the end. I picked up an extra layer today. I’m hoping to try it out tomorrow.

I invested in an all in one thermal bib tight with some wind stuff in the thighs and they do a great job on days like today. The single layer allows for more freedom of movement as well.

Kinda like these but they're the older model. I also have a pair of Pearl Izumi ones that are basically the same.

Nice, those look good. I have the PI AmFib ones that I like but they just aren’t warm enough.

Oh damn. Those are usually my go to. If I'm doing more windy exposed stuff I throw the Pearl Rain Pants over them to act as an extra wind barrier. That should get you down into - degrees.

Since this I have picked up a minimal shell to throw over then and it worked like a charm!
