What is all that gunk in there? Just part of the belt that gets chewed up or does dirt/debris somehow work its way in there?

But what percent of them have destroyed sprag clutch bearings? Over on the EMTBforums that's mostly what you see. Going to pull mine apart this weekend to check to see what's up inside. My guess is it's the sprag bearings.Right now Brose won’t allow anyone to open a motor under 2 years old so they just replace them. Seems like a monster waste because it’s such an easy fix.
There are better quality belts available than what Specialized uses.kinda looks like the belt teeth that have sheared off

Off topic here a bit but I made a Smoothie yesterday and the rubber gasket seal popped off during the blending. Looked just like that.
Seems about right for my motors, but my customer's seem to fair much better than I do. 2 emtb's and I'll be installing my sixth motor today. Out of all the other e-bikes I've sold I haven't had to replace more than 2 motors total. The one's I have replaced have had some kind of issue right out of the box and they were replaced before they left the shop. Are there any good estimates on how many miles one can expect to get on a ebike motor?
My broke at 850 miles. Zero error codes the entire time.
at that point maybe just get a new bike every year or 2 and sell the old one.So basically new motor while the fork and shock are getting their 100 hour service?

Problem is bosch is the most reliable motor out of the bunch which is why so many brands dumped ep8 in favor this past year. Im sure we are gonna see Sram appear on more brands but they all need to be able fixable. Brose is the only one besides bafang that people can actually have repaired, the others are throw aways, though me thinks the manufacturer is probably rebuilding those. Now that Sram is using a Brose based system it’ll be super interesting to see what the next generation of bikes will look like. If a Manufacturer can build a bike from a single source that’s a huge benefit for them over using multiple suppliers. We could see Bosch-based bikes switch over because it’s cheaper and everyone loves a healthy bottom line. Especially when the Industry is taking a face first swan dive into the ground.
What shows up when you Google the motor your bike has? Brose belt kits pop up from a couple of sources at around $160.Can "joe shmoe" get a belt online and do it himself? or do they only sell it to dealers?
