Plastic parts? Don't care if it is part of input or output, plastic in any part of the drive trail worries me.

A) I wouldn't take apart that motor on your Orbea then 😉
B) They use plastic because the amount of stress on a single gear in a motor that puts out 240watts is extremely small. If you had a 3d Printed chainring and rode around at 240 watts, it wouldn't break.
C) Plastic is quiet. Consumers are crybabies when it comes to noise, like any normal mechanical noise is life ending type of crybabies. All of them. Any bike manufacturer will take 1,000's of Dollars on the chin warrantying broken motors rather than deal with crybabies kinda crybabies.
D) 24lb S-Works LevoSLs don't get down to 24lbs because someone cares about DURABILITY. SL and most lightweight bikes are performance based and as such have a much higher maintenance schedule, including motors. Think buying a Mercedes 6.3AMG.

They should ban them but they wont.

There's some major corporate powers that will make sure these never get banned. The Big S in particular has sent around many emails urging employees to sign petitions against a ban. They claim it's racially motivated but I have a hunch it has more to do with the line of Class2 Globe bikes launching next year 🤔

A Battery left at 100% is a bomb waiting to go off. I wonder if they'll go after Electric Cars being charged in the garage of a building?
I've read in a few places how EV's should be charged outside. Failures and faults are relatively rare, but they do happen.

I've been surprised at how many e-Bike motors use straight-cut gears. Helical gears tend to make a lot less noise, although they also introduce side-loading into the mechanism. Also somewhat less efficient. Everything is a trade-off.

The Big S can find allies in UberEats and such.

Trying not to sound like a commercial here,,

But this bike is insane.

I like where ebikes are going. This looks a lot different than ebikes did just a few years back.
