I'm assuming based on the rider's shadow that the oncoming traffic had quite a bit of sun glare. Wonder if the rider had a light on the front of the bike.

And also, "Oh I see that car starting to turn left in front of me, not to worry though I'm on a bike and they will definitely see me and definitely stop because I have the right of way".
I will say that once I started running a front light on my road bike, the number of encounters I experienced like the above video reduced dramatically. As well as the number of cars pulling out of driveways in front of me. The trick then becomes maintaining my line enough for the driver to not think I'm about to stop while also being just able to stop if they decide to go anyway... it's a tricky balance.

The big one is ride on the correct side of the effing road. When you're moving at motorized vehicle speeds, you need to be traveling in directions where other road users will be expecting to see you. I see so many DUI riders on Rt 13 near my house that pulling out of my street is a case of looking both ways 5 times before actually pulling out because I have lost all faith in humanity...

Anyone see this this weird hack?

Bunch of threads about them on the EMTB.com forums. There was another one that came out first that doubles or triples the speed. https://www.planet3.bike/

Hmm... I don't see much use for that for general trail riding, but if I wanted to use a second set of wheels with street tires for commuting, I could see it being useful. Basically converts it to a Class 3 e-bike, no?

Timely…

Late to discussion, but I completely agree with Seth on riding in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I recently bought a Tern folder to keep at my mom's to ride as I'm there every weekend and would like to venture out further. The Brooklyn Heights/Dumbo area is pretty pedal bike friendly but once you get past Atlantic/Barclays or over the bridge it's a complete shit show with 90% powered vehicles in the bike lanes and zipping by in in both directions. I really don't have a problem with the Amazon scooters, they go at about my speed, under 15mph, but when parked, are blocking most of the lane.

Nobody buys a bike with their hard earned birthday money and risks getting their toy taken away unless their parents are connected townies or cops and lawyers.

Tracy Moseley is back racing e-bikes. Bosch is supporting her and producing a video series.

Only two episodes so far, but she is pretty good in front of a camera.

Seth dropping more e-bombs, but essentially reiterating what jdog has been saying since he first test-rode this bike...

It was a well done piece. I am of the belief that Amflow will be closed down after more brands pick up the motors.
