Easing Back In

Hi everybody. I'm getting back into riding after a few years (kids, etc.) and have been staying mostly on the road because it's quick and I can head out for an hour at lunch without much prep.

I used to ride mostly at Chimney Rock and Deer Path and some smaller parks around my house.

I've got an old Superlight and a formerly singlespeed '95 "Jetta" Trek that I'm converting to 1x9. I'm wondering if I should scrap it all and get a steel hardtail 29er -- thinking about an El Mariachi. (any thoughts on this would be appreciated). I've got a steel frame/carbon fork road fatbike and I really dig the feel.

Anyway, thanks to you guys for maintaining this site and I hope to see you on the trails.

Welcome aboard. Your first paragraph sounds really familiar around here. Good job fighting to get it back. I'll leave all the suggestions on fatbikes, frames and upgrades to those who do it best here.

Salsa fatbikes are nice.

You have some good roads near you. You could always jump on the Columbia Fatbike lane and make your way to RV. Better be a long lunch break though 🙂

Welcome to the forums.
I would demo fatbikes and see what you like the best.
LBS by you should has some fatbikes to demo..
