Planning to take the fatty to the beach tomorrow. Probably mid-late morning. I'm thinking Sandy Hook since it's been in the news and all 😀
Anyone want to join me?

Would love to but me's gotta work....may go Sunday unless there's still some decent snow left closer to home. Enjoy, should be a great day for it...

I'm interested in joining you, but this would be my first time at Sandy Hook. I've been told that it's advantageous to ride during low versus high tide. A tide chart that I saw for tomorrow said that low tide will be at 8:02AM and high tide will be at 1:55PM. Did you have a more specific time in mind? Where would you like to meet?

I can ride at any time after 9:30 but have to be home by 2:30
I've never been either so it's guaranteed to be an adventure! 🙂
It looks like there is a parking lot off of Hartshorne drive. I believe that's where all of the cool guys park 😀
I sent you a PM with my cell #

Great ride today with Fitman, I'm beat. It was a ton of fun and something totally different. I'll be back.
Thanks for the tips Ice!

Is it possible to get pics on from an iphone? I failed miserably. I never had issues before the update.
seems to work from the PC...

As you requested Ice 😉

Yes, lot's of fun, and fatiguing. We were trying to develop our ability to coast on sand...not too successfully, I might add!😱

Thanks Mike, nice pics! Juggernaut, you can park at Lot B and head north and go 'round the tip, or park further north if you don't have as much time to ride (but then you miss out of the rockpile (which is just north of Lot B). I may go Sunday AM if the rain messes with the snowpack up north... will post up if so, in the event we can connect for a tour.

From what I've heard, northern parks have snow but it's above freezing so it'll be too slushy to be much fun. The beach is the best bet, other than the road. So, I'm planning on heading to the Hook if anyone wants to join me. Mellow pace, 3 hour ride, maybe a tad more if time allows. Meet at Lot B (2nd lot after toll booths) @ 8:15 aiming for wheels down by 8:30 or thereabouts. Low tide's at 10:25 so there'll be plenty of beach. I can be convinced to go earlier, though. Who's in?

I'm in but need to start earlier, like 8.

I wish I could join you but family stuff has me staying local for a short road ride. Looks like high winds tomorrow though. Ugh!

Cool, thanks Ice.

I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow.
Can't make it that early, family stuff, I'll probably run into you on your way back.

I'll be the guy on the black mukluck with an orange helmet.

I might be in for the 8:00-8:15 ride. I have to figure if I want to do this or a road ride. If I am in, I will be in an orange car with a Black bicycle.

Ice: See you at 8:15AM, Lot B.

Sorry guys we had a change in plans. Goodvibe, fitman, we are staying local in Morristown due to time constraints. text me (sent you a PM)

Thanks for the advice Ice.

My first beach ride was a blast.
Strong headwinds going out made for a moment of doubt as I set off, but the rocks provided the perfect distraction.

Lots of cool things to see.

If you expand the bottom one you can see Manhattan.

Oh, AND I SAW A SEAL!!!

Alas, no photo. My i9 hub scared it back into the water before I could wrestle the phone out of my pocket....

I was a little wigged out starting after 10:30, so I turned around after only 4.5 miles. See, I'm unfamiliar with the tides here and with so much of the beach roped off for nesting protection, I was a worried about running out of beach on the way back.

In retrospect, I would have been fine.

Next time....
