Wednesday Night shop ride at the Crizzle with Jake from State Farm. We got caught in the thunderstorm and almost died. Good times, good times.

I'm tapering right now so that's a thing.

That storm was nasty - felt like a microburst with 80mph winds. Between the falling trees/debris and lightning, "almost died" isn't an exaggeration!

I have to break our new employee from Kansas into some rock riding. To him Chimney Rock is basically Everest with Sourland type boulders all over.

How hard is it to take care of a rigid fat bike?

I bang my derailleur on rocks a lot. Also, in this case, both of my brakes were not working. My headset and BB also tend to require regular maintenance. My rear hub blows up a lot too. Also, I have a suspension fork and dropper post 😛

This is not surprising as your average ride is many hours long multiple times a week... probably expected no?

A singlespeed makes zero sense for what I like to ride unfortunately. So I just ride my bike like a singlespeed with easily changeable gears.

Being that Brevets aren't races, they post results in Alphabetical order.

And here we are. Last shakedown ride and gear selection. Tightened things up just a hair. Swapped to my Spot instead of carrying the InReach, cost me $60 but now I'll have extra room in the handlebar roll for snacks!!

In there now are just my Shell, emergency Bivy, and stuff sack filled with body stuff like aspirin and Chamois Cream.

Moved my spare battery into the weird spot in front of the bottle. It's kinda the only thing that fits there but again, saves me room in the bag for snacks. Also moved my Swat Tool back under the cage. Saved enough room to bring a canister of spare Stan's Darts. 2 tubes and my little tool bag in the rear pack, it's about 1/2 full. More snacks.
