Start was fast, trail to Big Lake was bomber. I was completely spun out but sat in the sorta front.

Coming out of the Butterfly Lake checkpoint I ran into Lael and some of my Anchorage friends. We rode down to a creek crossing that wasn’t passable so we had to backtrack and get on last year’s trail.

We sorta bushwhacked straight across because Mike knew where we were. We just followed him.

Eventually we hit the river and it was go time, for everyone else at least because I was spun out. My goal was to stop at Hooligan’s, sleep, and reset my clock. Got in around 9:30pm so was a short 7.5 hour day…Chandra saved me in 2019 on the Yetna at -30 with her Trail Angel stop so I really wanted to support her new lodge. And, pancakes for dinner and breakfast. I bunked with Erin. Set my alarm for 4am.
