Good to read things went well with the operation. Sorry about you having to suffer through another day eating dreadful hospital food. 😛uke:

I have little appetite but the small amts of solid food have been good. Small.cautious meals for w wjile. I want things to have time to heal.

Hope to enjoy a lesiurly canal ride by thanksgiving or at latest Christmas. That would be nice.

conservative celebration !

write up a personal story to conclude with getting back on the bike - will help pass the time, chronicle what is happening, and share with others that need a bit of hope....go viral, get 100M hits, big contract!! ok, just making the time go faster...

yeah - are you doping or something???? 😀

Hmmmm, it would help me heal faster 🙂

Well, no stationary or anything much yet. Overdid it on the driving and walkin Saturday (went up to halters to scope out a get well present/new bike for myself, I did slowly ride one around the home depot though)

Not noticing a difference in recovery as i am at a point where it will go slowly now, hope to be out on the canal for turkey day

havent' updated in a while so here goes..

Yesterday was one month since surgery and I'd say I'm doign quite well. I feel like I'm back to 80%-90% with general soreness in the abs and incisions, and I still tire quicker than I'd like. At my 4 week follow up the Surgeon says I'm healing better than expected, although most people that have this procedure are easily 20-40 years older than me so a relativly healthy person such as myself should heal faster.

Physically i've been cleard to do anything I want, just don't do anything stupid. Lifting things is a pain as the abs are still sore (also think I tweaked a muscle in my abs during the hurricane) but i've been hitting the gym and riding the stationary and eliptical trainers. I am going to try for an easy loop on the D&R canal tomorrow, 5-10 miles or so (according to my Garmin I need 52 more miles to hit 1000 on the year, so 1.5 months to go accomplish that).

Dietary wise I'm eating prety much everything, including the foods I had to avoid in the past. Peanuts, Italian Sausage (fennel seeds) peppers with seeds. and so far so good! I lost 15 pounds from teh surgery and got down to 193 (lightest I've been since 2001) but since I'm eating more now I'm back up to 198 or so. Plan to try to keep it under 200 through the holidays and then restart the training etc. in Januarey. I woul like to match my healthy weight loss of last year when I went from 222 on NYD down to 203 after J's July Challange (gained 5lbs prior to surgery knowing I'd be losing alot of weight from the surgery while I recovered).

Thanks for thinking of me, hope to see people out there on the trails soon. I'll be at the Mercer TM session this Sunday morning and also the Baldpate TM next weekend.
