Good Luck at Sea Otter Kristine!

Thanks everyone! I'm warming up for Sea Otter (next weekend) at Bonelli Park, San Dimas, THIS weekend. XC on sat, short track on sun.

I barely made my 7am flight this morning - I heard about the fire at Newark Terminal B, but I didn't anticipate the overload of travelers because of it. The line to get to security lapped the terminal twice. no kidding. I had to SPRINT through the gates and made the plane with less than a minute to spare! A smooth flight and an overpriced rental car later (Cadillac SUV, so at least I'm ballin!) and I'm settled into my hotel room. The shop putting my bikes back together hasn't quite finished them (1pm here), so they are going to personally deliver them to my hotel - which is a bit more service than expected. I just hope everything is put together CORRECTLY (commence the flashback to the Boston Rebellion's blown out hub ordeal). It's been drizzling all day here, but I'm hoping to get a lap or two in before it gets dark or torrential.

Ever since the bullet-proof check-in cubicle at the hotel for the Sugar Hill, MD race last year, I'm a bit skeptical approaching hotels booked randomly near a race venue. I was pleased to find my home for the next few days is NICER than expected.

Now back to work (web design is travel friendly!) until my bikes arrive.

4:30, bikes assembled and delivered by the shop owner. I ask him what I owe him and he says 'no charge, we didn't have them ready when you wanted them'... What the? Coates cycling. You know I'll be shouting out these guys on fb after I post this.

Still plenty of daylight for a quick ride. And the rain let up. Bonus. I can ride to bonelli park right from my hotel. I even managed to find half of the cat 1 course. First impressions, the ground feels like a pump track. Maybe it's usually more sandy and the drizzle Today packed it down, but it's almost asphalt.

Not a lot of what I would call single track, mostly double track, and the terrain is up down up down, so the race is going to be insanely fast. The hills are awkward looking- taller than they are wide, w some pretty decent grades. Hills were easy enough today, but I bet they are going to hurt at race pace.
