Hello from Flanders

Then I wanted to be all sorts of euro. So I got an aftermarket euro small front bumper, an OEM rear euro bumper, and a FOHA spoiler. That rear bumper was a pretty fuckin' penny, let me tell you...

I kept going lower, so I needed a skid plate and I started liking single rounds all over again, so I got an OEM grille, fluted crosshairs, and a regular 8v lip. Damn 16v lip kept hitting over every single bump.

I stumbled across a set of OZ Rally wheels which I always loved. I HAD to buy them. Came with a 5th 14" spare too

Aaaaand then I got all up in the motorsport stuff again. So big bumpers it was, with hood pins to quickly get the front end off (the OZs didn't really look right with smalls anyways). I wanted a front splitter and I was going to do a full flat bottom/rear diffusor as well, but I was waiting on having a garage to get that done. Oh and I got my hands on a set of brake ducts for the bumper, what a pain in the ass that was finding those.

FINALLY A GARAGE in Oakwood Village!!! The trip to the garage was the last drive it made. The last thing I took when moving was the mk2 packed up with stuff. On the way there, it was raining a bit and the headlight harness from the fuseblock to the switch started smoking profusely.

I decided that enough was enough. I decided to get rid of everything.

Fun car, but I put too much into it. I was on the fence for the longest time about stripping it back down and doing a full shaved bay, a mild turbo setup or a 16v on ITBs, and completely redoing the interior. Once again it was going to cost money that at that time I was a bit hesitant to spend. I was actually maturing and growing up. I didn't want to waste loads of money. I wanted to get into something that wouldn't tempt me to spend thousands and thousands. The VR was BEGGING to be turboed. But I just couldn't justify spending $3k to piece together a nice kit. Since I couldn't do what I wanted with it, it was time to part it and crush it.

While on the fence, I found the B6. The dealer I got it from was just about to take it to auction (literally, guy in the car ready to take off) but after sprinting to the car pounding on the window and a couple days of negotiations, I got it for $6k OTD plus $6k trade in for my 07 Rabbit (you can catch a glimpse of it in a few pictures).

This interior NEVER gets old! 😀

That is some post!! 🙂 My MK 2 was 16V with suspension work, exhaust, intake and chipped. It had 100k original miles and ran and handled AMAZING! I already miss it but I told my wife in the future I will have to replace it with a 911 🙂
My parents both have brand new TDI's one Passat and one Jetti Wagon. Great cars! Now back to Mtn biking, haha!
