Help!- Work truck issue/question

My main work truck (Ford E250 Van) decided to have the transmission take a crap on Friday. I've sunk a lot into this the past year but I just can't digest the thought of dropping like $2500 for a transmission plus labor to put it in as I know this thing is going to keep eating at my pocket. Anyone happen to have one laying around? I didn't really think so, so plan B does anyone have a reliable work van they are selling or know someone else is selling? Or any ideas that maybe I am not thinking of in dealing with this? I looked into rebuilding this transmission and the cost dif is only a few hundred bucks.

Maybe but it just seems that this repair would be way more than the actual truck is worth, and if everything else continues to go this transmission will be a huge and expensive paper weight
 
I think it is a 2003 with 150k but I'm the original owner and I was always told I should get 200 -250k out if this. Tbh if I got another 50k I'd be happy but not at this expense.

Funny u mention pat Barrett. There is one of those 2 doors down from my warehouse but I was told it would be more than my regular mechanic. Will call tomorrow tho. I'm not into doing this myself.
 
I used the one in Westwood off Old Hook Rd. I didn't know there were others.
Half the cost of a trans repair is the removal and install. You can save some serious money doing it yourself IF you have the time and place to do the work. That is a big IF though.
 
Actually tried that at that Barrett place this morning but he just got a new TV like 6 months ago 😡. Very good and knowledgable guy tho and really explains a lot to you. Not like a doctor who says don't worry about it that is my job. However I've been back and forth on this and I think I am going to bag repairing this thing. I can see doing this and have the engine blow in 2 months. Anyone interested in a work van that only goes 30 mph and will only go in the forward direction give me a call. Or if you are good with transmissions you would have a solid van for cheap.
 
Rob, there is no automatic transmission on planet earth that will go 250k
150k is really good for a work van.
what motor is in this van?
