Info on Round Valley

I rode RV years and years ago. What I remember is a 14 mile out and back ride that somehow managed to be uphill both ways. Honestly- I did not like the place too much. Now I want to get reacquainted because it seems like a great place to train for some early season trips I am looking to take next year. Hopefully I can the lay of the land before the bone crunching cold sets in...

So could anyone give the info on this place? Where should a newbie park and ride from to limit the bike pushing and maximize the pedaling? Is there a color blaze I should follow? Is there a turn around point?

I ask these questions as I do not want to get too lost out there as it gets colder and dark soo early.

Thanks all!

Here is a loop - There is a bit more to be had at the turn around point.

This is also the winter route, as the gate from the boat launch is locked in the summer, and getting a bike around it is tough - not to mention it is not listed for bikes, and really isn't more than a flat trail ride..

if you are visiting now, go in the main entrance, and park in the south (scuba) lot. Follow the red trail out - when in doubt, climb!

Here is another from the cushetunk (railroad) lot

drop me a note, and we can go for a 4 hour tour. they recently opened part of the trails that are closed because of the eagle's nest - so i need to go exploring....
