Jshort’s bike thread

Nice work man....thats a great first day out. Was the pre ride lap worth it?

As I was sitting there, a course marshal had stopped me to allow racers to go. No problem. I’m there with my windows down taking it all in and I hear 2 guys coming out of the woods and they are arguing back and forth while racing. “F*ck you”, “f*ck you a$$hole”, “take off your ear phones”, “I’m not wearing ear phones you piece of sh!t”, etc, etc…

Not that i ever got that heated with another racer, but I feel like the whole interaction is so much more chill as you move up. The couple cat 3 races i did...I felt like people where unaware of when to let people by, etc.. But either way, ya no reason for that.

Nice race. Do you think you could have changed the outcome by leading the ST every lap? Making him dig a bit harder to close gaps after the ST?

Yeah, this sounds a lot like every other entry class of racing....cross or crit. There's lots of yelling in Cat 5 CX. In the elite fields it's typically nothing more than banter, people talk with their legs...elbows if necessary.

Not on this course. It was ST, road, ST, road... There weren't any sections long enough that I could use to build a good enough of a lead that he wouldn't have been able to bridge.
Maybe...and it's a stretch, maybe if I lead enough in the ST and made him press a little, he would have made some mistakes and I could have capitalized. But the course was so damn easy. Not a single tech section.

Great write up and dope result!

You should've ran the Cat 3 doodz over to put them both out of their misery.

Well done!
Nice race and great recap!

That kid Tommy was strong last year, definitely one to mark going forward.

X2 on the cross bike question. I saw one of the pros averaged 16mph!? Jeez.

Hey Bikereg says you got first place...🙂 Don't understand the way the times etc are laid out on their spreadsheet tho...

I saw one guy on a cross bike. He raced after I did, not sure what group it was. Wonder if he did a cross dismount for the bridge. Did the top of the anthill get packed in? It was pretty loose and beat up from the HAB'rs. In lap 2.
I believe the two guys fighting happened because of a big pile up of guys At the first ST lap 1.

Yea man, I was chillin next to the start finish and looked up the road and it was like a swarm of bees passing through! Pretty dope! Had to be a pack of atleast 20. Avg 16.4 max speed 31.4

MTB was definitely faster. It was so fast, what little obstacles there were, you could just attack instead of worrying about little cross tires.
The stair section would have been a dismount on a cross bike too.

He'll be pro soon no doubt. As soon as he gets more experience on the trails he'll be that much faster.

Finally, a bike that i can grab and not miss riding my scalpel. I only had 1 ride on it so far, but it seems to be the perfect bike for a cross country racer looking for a more playful ride. You can set it up nice and stiff for climbing, but still take advantage of the 120mm travel and slack head angle. I really cant wait to get back on it.

28lbs as seen, conpletely stock except for setting up tubeless.
