Long time lurker

But I heard this place has all the good stuff.

Hi everybody. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Goce and I recently got into biking a few years ago and it's been slowly taking over my life. I would like to eventually get into cx racing and meet some of the local hooligans. Currently I ride a 2014 trek crossrip elite as pictured below

Humble beginnings came on a second hand 2008 trek 7.6 fx that I thought was going to be amazing and I would be able to modify as my skills grew but needless to say I was wrong about that. It's currently on loan to my cousin who moved to Maryland

I finally created an account because there is another bike I'm looking to get as a commuter. I've been super paranoid about leaving the crossrip locked up at school since its the most expensive bike I've ever purchased. I couldn't believe how big, and expensive, biking has gotten.

I came from nothing but Kmart bikes since I was a kid. When has prices spiked during the recession and paychecks were slimmer than the Olsen twins during their peak of drug abuse I decided to buy my first bike in 10 years from sports authority. Worst. Decision. Ever. I hated that hunk of crap that I paid good money for but hell, it was helping me lose weight(if my user name didn't tip you off,I'm a heavy set guy that looks like a bear riding a bike).

Long story short, bike sat for a while after and when I wanted to get back on the saddle I decided to get something nicer. Not knowing what I wanted I got the fx thinking I got a great deal on it(turns out I over paid but the lbs always took care of me with a few issues I had a few months later). Now I'm here. Hope to see you on some of the trails and maybe next season at the races!

Welcome LB, the addiction just grows and grows......but it's a good one. I'm also a furry beast on a bike, hope to see you around!

Welcome!

Biking and weight loss - perfect together 🙂

See ya out there.

gt2brew is a big furry beast off the bike too.😀

welcome, how do you like the cross rip? That was one of the bikes i was looking at before i bought my felt.

i saw some cool commuters in the for sale section, but it may be best to find an old 10 speed steel frame on craigslist and make it into something that works for you, i recently built up a fixed gear spending about $50, i wouldnt mind leaving it outside if i had to.

Your username reminds me of a John Mayer song about a lunch box from 1983. That's all I got.

welcome LB87

plenty of good late 80s and 90s mountain bikes for under $100 out here if you look

they make great commuter bikes and can handle some trails around here

I love it. It really was love at first ride. I was originally looking at the cadddddddddddddx but I wasn't too thrilled with it. Jumped on the crossrip and haven't looked back.

I have my heart set on a particular bike at the moment. I kept my eyes on cl for some older bikes that were going to be my first fixer upper but I saw this thing was for sale and decided to try and pull the trigger on it

Your username reminds me of the lunch box parallel to engagement rings:

I was looking at the polished frame crossrip- love at first sight but the felt has a better price and components. Welcome again

I think of this when I hear lunchbox.

It's actually because of movie mall rats.

Jay called Silent Bob lunch box and since I was the only big guy in my group of friends, it stuck
