Overthinking the draft from the basement already

This one may be impossible.

I'm repairing a deli slicer - it has a threaded blind hole in the blade guard that is M12x1.75 -
I have been unable to find the proper part to mount the guard for this specific slicer, but I found one that is close.
Only problem is the threading is male M10x1.25 -

The way they are assembled does not allow for any extension, so the solution needs to be a reducing insert.

Is 2mm not enough material to allow this part to exist?
The guard is aluminum, the adapter is stainless. Do i go to m14 and then reduce? other solutions?
there isn't much in depth to work with either. maybe 12mm ?

I would think a helicoil sounds like the way to go. Assuming it can support the over-size bit.

You can use a regular twist drill to bore most of the hole, and a forstner (very carefully free-hand) to flatten the bottom if necessary.
