Mosquito combat

Never gonna let you down.
Last year the mosquitos were out of control in our yard. This year I’m going to try to do something about it. I called mosquito squad a couple years ago and they didn’t call me back til the next summer, so I’m trying to avoid them.
My questions are:

Anyone tried DIY mosquito spraying? Seems you can buy some strong chemicals online for this.

Or have you used a mosquito spraying service? And if so, whether it was effective.

I don’t live close to a pond or a swamp, so I feel like I have a fighting chance.

My first year hear it was crazy now I'm paranoid about puddles or anywhere that collects water.

It's what Disney does, no standing water or you may as well get ready to fertilized mosquito eggs
 
I have a fogger and it works for a weekend when they are bad.
Removed wet leaves, and I have no standing water.
I think they come from under the deck -
Been good the last two years - so something worked.
 
I use Mosquito Shield. 12 treatment for $574- double that of the other service for a $100 difference. Per spray they are the most economical.

So, i like to hire pros because im not a mosquito exterminator.

Do they actually spray 12 times in a year?
 
I wish I could remove my neighbor 'pond'...looks like crap, it's on the property line and the fishes he has in it apparently are not fond of mosquito eggs...
 
I DIY spray with an amazon electric sprayer and I mix up my own permethrin and a birth control (no joke). It works extremely well for about 3 weeks. i spray all the surrounding bushes and all of the grass in my yard. I have a swampy area bordering my property and i cant really stand outside at dusk unless I spray. All in I think I am under 200 bucks since i started 3 years ago. Way cheaper than the "pros".

I was planning on doing this when we moved in, but never got around to it. I’ve done it before but it can take time before the bats inhabit the houses. This year I don’t have that much time.

The wife is itching to get one, but I am having second thoughts since I spoke to my neighbor about it...he had a bat house and bats moved to his attic, same thing with the house 200 yds up the road where he lived before...looks like Ringwood bats are rather finicky!
