Anybody have a bike travel bag / hard case they would like to sell or even rent out for a trip next spring?

Id rent a bike for Moab....the airlines will kill you on prices for a bag big enough to put a FS bikes in. With united this summer is was going to be $300 each way for me with my bronson. Moab has a million shops with great rentals.

Plus, omg, the W.E. is one of the most abusive trails for a bike i have ever ridden...I much prefer not destroying my own bike on it.

United secretly removed bike fees in the past month or so! Just need to keep it under 50lbs which isn't hard to do with a good soft case. You could use a bike box but I wouldn't trust that for any bike you care about.

This bag is a great piece and my bike fit fine....Problem is that empty the bag weighs 20lbs and my bronson weighs 31lbs...So I was planning on taking as much little stuff on the bike and packing it into my carry on...pedals, cassette, etc. Just FYI in case you find someone to lend you one of these

I try to put heavy things into my carry-on, but sometimes have run into issues where they randomly tell me things are a weapon.

Allen-Key and something else I had in Wisconsin to R&R the pedals was past some arbitrary length and I had to go to the baggage people, they had to get my bag from TSA so I could put the stuff in my checked back. Vegas they took my pedal wrench when I used to remove the cassette that way.

Since I used Stan's wheels I can easily pop off the hub/cassette as one huge heavy package, put it in a plastic bag w/ the pedals and put that in my carry on.

The bag I use is more like 12lbs so it opens up more weight for the bike.

I have that bag in my Amazon cart. We've got some decisions to make this weekend. Rent a bike or fly it, seems to cost about the same but Utah makes a good point about the abuse a bike takes riding the W.E. But, aren't we abusing our bikes each time we ride them here in NNJ?

Its funny you would think so but imo, just more speed and big hits....I wrecked the rims on the bike I rented out there.

Shoot me a PM if you’re still on the hunt. I have a soft case you can borrow (pika pack works). Can absolutely keep it under 50 lbs just a pain in the ass to carry around because it has no wheels.

If you're traveling with someone else who isn't bringing a bike, get them to bring some of your bike parts in luggage, it helps with weight. Just by checking your fork in a different bag makes a huge difference.
