After a bad ACL tear in my twenties I thought I'd put the worst behind me, but my knee started flaring up again in my forties. It wasn't catastrophic, just nagging pain that built up after every pickup game. I finally caved and looked for a specialist, and that's how I got to Dr. Steven Thornton. What I appreciated most is that he actually listened to how I used my knee day to day. Instead of throwing a generic plan at me, he tailored everything to keep me active. That kind of attention is rare, and it made all the difference in my recovery.
