Hi, I signed on today. I am a middle aged mom and , defying all logic I am still a beginner rider, although I did my first off road race in 2005. I live in NYC and it is pretty hard to carve out time to train and access trails. I love riding (and running) in the woods. My goal is to become a competent rider.

I am looking forward to joining the ladies ride this week. Heidi

Welcome to the site Heidi, and hope to meet you on the trails soon. Getting out to mountain bike can be good times for sure. The last Ringwood girl ride 08, ended with a new bike for one of the ladies, and then she rode over a bees nest. Visualize girls screaming, running around ripping off their clothes. We all got out of the woods safely that day and still laugh about it today.

Hi! I am coming to the ride on Thursday morning. I just started riding for the year (other than transportation or with kids). From Jan til May I was training for NJ Marathon, which happened on May 3.

So I've done one real ride this year sofar, last weekend in Wawayanda . I live in NYC full time and have a cabin in NJ. I run anywhere I go, but mostly Central Park. How about you?

I am also training for some open water swim events this summer. I'll be swimming to NJ, and also under the Brooklyn Bridge, so that should be fun. Oh, and in case anyone else likes to run on trails too, not just ride, there is an inexpensive mid week (my two key words!!) XC run series going on in Van Cortlandt Park , in the Bronx, starting next week. www.vctc.org

Thanks Ellen...I think I have seen you before at some races. Were you at Mountain Man this past year? I am pretty sure your pic is on their website from last year.
