Hey guys! Finally got my account approved for posting. I am new in NJ, just moved 3 months ago from Western MA. I am also quite new to riding. I got my bike during the fall of 2011 and the fall in MA is colder than this year's winter here in my place so I didn't get so much chance to ride out back then.

I am looking at trying the beginners' trails here in NJ. If there are other beginners who are planning to do some weekend rides please, I will be willing to join you guys, please PM me for invitation.

I am from Elizabeth, NJ and I dont mind driving 20-25 miles during the weekend to do this🙂 Or even more!

Hey welcome to NJ and the forums 😛 ... There are some nice trails here up north and i would say try out Lewis Morris if you want a nice easy pace ride with some ups and downs. Also 6 mile is a good place to work on endurance on burn out some good miles as its very smooth and flowy. Even allaire is nice too ! What type of bike are you on anyways ?

Hi! Thanks. I would definitely look them up. I am riding a Spec Camber Comp. I really have to build up my stamina and endurance since I have only put about 50 miles on it since I got it last year.

cool . lemme know if you every need a tour... Im not a fast rider and I'm trying to get in better shape..

Hey guys.
I met up with jchoog and jhaze3 yesterday and rode cheesequake. I want to thank these guys for accommodating me even if I slowed them down for stopping a hundred times🙁
I'm a new rider and I'm looking for a beginner's trail near elizabeth to develop my endurance and stamina and of course my skills. My gf will also be starting with riding as we are getting her bike soon. If I'm at a beginner's level, I think she's below that😉
I'm hoping you guys can recommend some trails near my location. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think Lewis Morris is perfect , I started out there and I still ride it from time to time , will def make you sweat lol .

It was great riding with you. That is a hard loop to hit your first time out. You tackled some of those downhills like a champ tho. It gets easier just stick with it.

Everytime I think of it, I am asking myself what made me do it loL!
I just realized that that descent was scary when I was already rolling down the rugged slope🙁

It was really nice riding with you and Jim. I'll definitely contact you guys again once I reach the stage where I can keep up with you guys hehe.

I think I will try Lewis Morris first. Thanks again.

welcome aboard,,if you can get down on tuesday nights the beginner rides are starting down at allaire again...April the 10th at 6 pm we meet in the hospital road lot these are a great place to meet up with other riders learn the park and have a great time.

Welcome! Ive been in the same boat and i second the idea of the martys beginer rides starting on a few weeks. I was a beginer too 3 years ago and those rides, led by Boris, helped me to get off my ass and ride. Today, i have been on multiple group rides, some of the best trails in northern NJ and also did my first race last year. 🙂

Hey guys. Thanks for the info. I looked at Martys events calendar and didn't see any beginners sched for Lewis Morris. Anyway, the one in Randolph is about 40 miles from me, its not that far, I think I will go.

Thanks again guys!

If it isn't drizzling or miserable this Sunday, I hope to get to Lewis Morris after work. I'll be there around 4pm. If you're interested I'll send you my cell number. Once we get closer and see what the weather is like, we can make a decision whether or not to ride.

Let me know,
Jeff

Hey bro are you going this Sunday? I am not sure yet but I will know by Sat afternoon if I can be available on Sunday. PM me how I can contact you this weekend in case. Thanks!

Welcome to MTB'ing and the board!!! All have given good advice. I too have riden Boris' led Lewis Morris beginner ride. This is an excellent way to ride with new people while getting key pointers on trail riding.

As someone else had previously stated....just keep riding and you WILL improve.
