This is a great forum. Glad to have found it. Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I have decided to stick with my non-full-face helmet. Will you all laugh if I wear knee/shin pads to boost the confidence? Lol. Thanks again for all the insight.

You only run into bears in the woods and they don't make fun of you. It might protect you from them as well 😀

I might tend to think if you're all armored up with knee/shin and forearm/elbow wraps at Lewis Morris there's a chance you perhaps might be looked at slightly askance.

Hi Louis. We are so happy to have you as a new member of our community. Thanks for signing up and see you on the trails.

Better? 🙄 😀

wow...thanks for the English lesson VB...😛 I had to look that one up.

When I first got back into mtb late last year I rode shin guards at Tourne because I remembered a fall I had on rocks 8 years ago. Now, I don't even think of shin guards for riding there.

As your skills increase, you'll go one of three ways:

A) Your confident enough to ride without them
B) Your confident enough to ride without them, but can't afford to be out of commission for that once-in-a-year crash that wouldn't have been so bad if you had just worn them
C) You seek out more challenging sections that will still require them, because you like the adrenaline rush of pinning it

I will go with choices B and C. Can't miss work! and, looking for an adrenaline rush!

Thanks all for the support! If you are at LM and see a 30-year-old rider in shiny knight's armor, say hello to me.
