"Official" BIYF 2016-2017 thread

1/31/2017: Stewart State Forest. There was an inch or so of crunchy frozen slick stuff left over from the last storm. My timing was perfect to ride during snow today. During my ride about another 1-2" fell making conditions lots of fun. It was, me, 3 squirrels and nobody else - very serene in the woods when it's snowing.

1/31 - Frosted dirt for breakfast and white powdered brown pow for lunch

Breakfast: 1:06:15 - Nice and easy cruise through my usual Baldpate loop. My trails were sparkly from my light reflecting off the frost

Lunch: 1:04:31 - Washington Crossing again for lunch. Working on figuring out how to create quality lunch loops. Pleasantly surprised how much fun this place is. Most of the trails are called: red dot, blue dot, yellow dot, green dot... felt like singing pee wee herman "connect the dots la la lala"

All caught up, and just in time. Strava just went down for scheduled maintenance.

As usual don't hesitate to let me know if I missed something or screwed something up!

Road Loop; picked up a nail in the rear tire near the end; rode it home before total deflation.

More of the same, sort of. Nice night out there tonight. Still and crisp.

First Tracks leading to my lil local patch of dirt:

Bonus- at this spillway, the D&R flows into the R. The end.

This is Donaldson Park, overlooking the R and NB, a bit downstream of that spillway:

Trails were frozen and areas with a coating of snow had good traction, but there was black ice around on the pavement too. Stay on your games.

Between Rutgers College and the trade school that I went to in New Ark, I worked in the US Post Office Sectional Center in North Brunswick on the graveyard shift. Every payday we would adjourn at 6am to the bar in South Bound Brook (just south of the Queen's Bridge @ the corner of Main and Canal which is under construction today) to spend some money on beer. Of course when we staggered out at 8:30am it was like God's own flashlight shining in your eyes and telling you that you were not necessarily on the righteous path.

That's where I usually jump on the towpath of the D&R Canal. Today was a "training ride" for the Vreeland Masochist Festival on February 11. My wife asked me exactly what I could win:

Barring Godzilla attack, that red one on the upper right would be a realistic goal.

After 1,300+ miles on the 6phattie the front chain ring needed replacement:

The kid at the shop said I should MTFU and not get another 28 tooth, so this is the brand new one. I need all the help I can get to catch Warren...
