OOS MOGA

If you can cut lengths off some of the down trees you can build a few log pyramids and lay the lumber across them. You can build ramps and jumps that way as well. Couple stakes in the ground to keep’m from shifting, dirt and smaller sections to fill in the gaps. Sounds like you have the resources you need just outside your door.

I like secret days off where I can go for hikes do yard work work on projects just enjoy myself. Doesn't work out if she takes the day off to cuz then we're getting breakfast and stuff, I just want a me day sometimes
Everyone needs this
For us, Sunday is kinda that time. She goes off to church and hangs out with her friends afterwards and the kid goes off playing with her friends.
I get to do whatever it is I want to do during that time. We huddle back up around 2ish and prepare for the upcoming week.

Every year I talk about this about now and it never gets done. So lets give it a try again.
"Building a skills course in the back yard"
Last year I didn't have enough wood but this year I did some deck work and may have enough, I really don't want to spend much other than for nails and hardware. Guessing I have about 300-400 linear ft of PT lumber and a recycled swing set to use. MrsQ wants the swing set gone, so I can pretend to take it apart for my project in the woods. I've always struggled with building anything higher than 2 ft as the foundation starts to burn a lot of wood. So I was thinking to use trees as supports, thoughts on this method?
Also have many downed trees to work with but they are too heavy to move and endless supply of Watchung basalt but no dirt, which is why a pump track idea is dead.

We don't have this because my wife's days are inconsistent and my hours very

What we should all figure out... is to found a way to convince our better half to let us go on our own vacation.
A buddy of mine, he ditches his family and goes off for about a week every year. I say ditch, but that's not true because he has permission from his wife.

I can very much relate to this, those days are rare gems. I’m WFH tomorrow, and I have about 2.5hrs between meetings where I’ll try to blitz through about 10 miles of Ringwood. As close as I can get to full day right now.

Define "we" because I am not allowed to sleep anywhere other than home without them. 🙁
Actually... when I mentioned I wanted to try bike packing... she did agree to 2 nights. Maybe I can use this somehow.

OK so I don't think I can ride this Sunday so it is probably Saturday morning for me. I am looking for a somewhat non-technical park because I want to try and go clipless, but if no takers I am down to go anywhere as long as I get to ride. Let me know who is in for Saturday?

I am in the exact same boat as you, if it isn't an official business trip or bachelor party I cannot go away. She used to let me do the occasional guys weekend, but since the kid that is gone as well.

Someone secure a GoPro!

Hey Brett... we should go to Wildcat or Sourlands for this occasion 🙂

We will after I get a couple of rides I bought them for the technical parks to help keep my feet on the pedals
Just to let you know... most clipless fails happen in the lot when you have your guards down.
If you agree to stay down long enough for me to take a picture of you in the dirt... or asphalt for that matter, I will go anywhere you want to go. 🙂

Honestly I am going to practice track stands and clipping and unclipping there may be many many fails before we even leave and I may never even hit the trails with the clipless the first couple times out LOL. I am also a good sport and happy to document all my failures.

Any ideas of where? NY has a few parks that tie together and we can reserve camp sights or cabins making it easy to spread out resources
