OOS MOGA

Honestly I am going to practice track stands and clipping and unclipping there may be many many fails before we even leave and I may never even hit the trails with the clipless the first couple times out LOL. I am also a good sport and happy to document all my failures.
It will definitely be interesting to see you go thru this process especially since your pedals don't have tension adjustment.... I think.
You are going want to bail early due the clipless. Even after 2 years, I still do depending upon the feature ahead. But I think its worth it.

Any ideas of where? NY has a few parks that tie together and we can reserve camp sights or cabins making it easy to spread out resources
F that! I am gonna watch Brett fall on his face! lol

Just to let you know... most clipless fails happen in the lot when you have your guards down.
If you agree to stay down long enough for me to take a picture of you in the dirt... or asphalt for that matter, I will go anywhere you want to go. 🙂

This is what is going to happen. He’ll be riding along, totally in control, and it’ll be time to stop. He”ll unclip one foot, stop the bike.... and then fall over, towards the side that is still clipped in. 100% guaranteed.

If you can cut lengths off some of the down trees you can build a few log pyramids and lay the lumber across them. You can build ramps and jumps that way as well. Couple stakes in the ground to keep’m from shifting, dirt and smaller sections to fill in the gaps. Sounds like you have the resources you need just outside your door.
Yeah I've got about 40 acres of shared woods in the middle and it's used by no one, especially since Sandy came through and felled about 100 big trees. There's still a 1/8 of a mile loop I've managed to cut, but to be honest not really much fun. That's why I'm gonna start building. Also no chance of hammering stakes, it looks like Sourlands back there. I'll start making some progress this weekend and you'll start to see what are the possibilities

Hammer drill and some rebar?

Do you own the property? That sounds like trouble...

This looks like certain death
So is that yes? I like the ones that brace between trees but the shelf type is suspect. I'm waiting for the engineers here to give me a thumbs up, but not sure anyone wants the liability. So I'll relinquish any legal actions levied to you by me here. Here's a quick draft of phase one.

I was just sitting here thinking of all the different ways I will most likely end up falling and thought, what was it like when you took that spill in Stephens, I would assume you didn't unclip. Did your feet just come out or how does that work, I am starting to get worried about the bad falls. Totally understand I am going to have the stupid ones, but what about the nasty ones? I have been OTB 2x, how much worse is it?

Been there... done that lol
Is it me or this type of fall hurts more. Just dead weight.... TIMBER!

I will help you build it and we can test it on Max first.

What we should all figure out... is to found a way to convince our better half to let us go on our own vacation.
A buddy of mine, he ditches his family and goes off for about a week every year. I say ditch, but that's not true because he has permission from his wife.
Nah, my kids are monsters, I can't do that to MrsQ

It came undone by itself.
The shimanos…. doesn't take much of a twist to unclip but I did have a couple of crashes where, the bike went over me because I was still clipped.

I am in the exact same boat as you, if it isn't an official business trip or bachelor party I cannot go away. She used to let me do the occasional guys weekend, but since the kid that is gone as well.
And you will have 16+;more years with your tail between your legs. Want another child? Do it quickly

If you have Shimano clipless pedals also make sure you get the multi-directional clips instead of the non multi-directional. It helps a little.

On my OTB the bike went over me and I wasn't even clipped in so kinda worried about those and how much worse.

I went with crank brothers because I heard they were easier to unclip from than Shimano's, although I know Shimano's are variable. They are also more of a platform and clipless combo like a downhill so if I don't clip in easy I can still pedal
