OOS MOGA

Its actually fun.... in a scary kinda way but scared of pedestrians more so than cars.
Plus rim brakes on steel wheels suck!

it's really not about being fit, more like a thousand decisions on what's the next move while weaving in and out of traffic. When we visited D.C. we used the local version of CitiBikes as transportation, I really thought my wife would divorce me. Being riding a bike in traffic got me a little over excited and I started being a little reckless, she quickly fell behind and did not appreciate that...at all.

I don't mind commuting time since my drive is already 50 minutes each way and I won't have to workout
No don't get me wrong, I'm all in if you stick with it. My point was that there's a high probability that if you buy a gravel/road bike that you'll almost never use it to commute. Unless you make the time. Do you have 2 spare hours on most days to ride to work and back? I'm a bit like you that I try to take on the world, doing everything on my own and trying to help out where I can. This gives me almost no free time. Try commuting with what you got, and if if works out get that gravel bike.

Leaving earlier isn't an issue, and going home is the beast but its not due to the time just the hill. Once I'm home my time is over, If I want to mtb after work I have to got to work with my bike in my car and all my clothing. Its hard to get home and go back out not just because of family but because taking my shoes off feels so good.
