Post your accidents and injuries...lifetime

Hope you’re ok. What happened ?

JRA....

Total human error. I had been playing with my rear shock adjustments since something seemed off. (over due for service). Backed off the high speed rebound and everything seemed better until I went off a small drop that I've probably gone off of 50 times a year for 30+ years. This time, as my rear tire hit it felt like a pogo stick and launched me towards a tree. Front wheel washed as I tried to avoid it. Fractured patella and a nice hole in my leg which they don't want to close up in case of infection. Rotater cuff is either torn or just strained. Seeing the Ortho on Monday to find out how bad this is going to be.

Wish you well.

My boss always jokingly tells me " don't do anymore dumb shit". Well he's got a point but I usually have justification for what I was doing before I inflict bodily harm. I'll tell my accidents/injuries 1x1 and you share yours. For the record, I like dangerous sports but consider myself conservative. Ages are approximate... age 3...broke 2 fingers in a car door. Ages 3-10 multiple stitches from falling/bmx accidents at home. Age13 broken thumb(surgery) from trying to use downhill skis we found in the trash in my backyard with the wrong type of wax. Age 16, broken femur(spiral into knee joint). My bro and I bought cheap ass snowboards from Kmart and it snowed early in November. 1/2 mile from the house and a few hundred feet from the steel bridge in Pottersville. Age 19...separated shoulder and concussion dirt bike accident in back yard. Age 23 severe concussion(knocked out for 24 hours(golf cart accident and required surgery form broken orbital floor). Age 25 broken heel. Age 31 slight separation of pelvis to spine(simple slip on wet grass playing football). Age 35 twisted ankle/broken tibia(until last month I thought this was just a twisted ankle from a dirt bike accident). Age 42 broken scapula and ribs in back(wilderness 101 crash on conservative panther run trail). Age 47 severe concussion and broken orbital floor(passed out and collapsed after a hard ride and stomach bug. I've had some other stuff like appendix removed, foot surgery etc outlets see what YOU got. For the record I am not proud of this, it's just who I am.
You have me beat. Now, be careful you only getting older.

My list is growing as I type from the ER.

Patella, rotator cuff….
I broke my patella completely in half last January. The tendons stayed in tact so the tension pulled the two halves of my knee cap like 5 inches apart…one was above where my knee should be and the other below. I couldn’t take painkillers at the time so I completely raw dogged it all the way through surgery and 6 months of recovery. Godspeed, man. That shit was rough.

I could probably fill a page with my 2020/21 enduro injuries alone lol. Many, many ribs…multiple times. Concussion. Pelvis. Torn calf. Broken fingers. I can’t even remember all of them. @UtahJoe actually yelled at me once because I was taping my broken fingers together with electric tape and still racing haha. There were only two races left in season and I already paid for them!

Take care. Have a safe and healthy 2026.

Well ya, I mean I have hurt myself a lot but I'm pretty adament on healing and not making the injury worse... A lesson I had to learn the hard way with my schaphoid bone.

My patella never hurt again after the initial impact. My rotator cuff was damaged too and that still bothers me. They said that it wasn’t a tear, just a bad bruise.

Weren’t you riding Wildcat in a sling a week after breaking your arm at SSaP?
No, 4 weeks, they took my first cast off... Then my second cast was much smaller and I could ride with it... With the cast on, very little risk of making it any worse... it was a small non displaced fracture of my radius....not like my ankle where any weight on it could have moved the hardware
