Post Your Doggo [woof]

Isn’t herding another term for shepherd? I picture Pyrenees being similar to pastore (shepherd) maremmano.

great Pyrenees are livestock guard dogs (historically) from the mountains in France, generally very lazy low energy dogs, they have short (and i mean SHORT) bursts of energy (think chasing predators away from the livestock) and then go back to watching/lounging.

(we have 1.5 at this point in time so did some homework on the breed)

Was gonna say yeah livestock guard dogs not herding in my experience.

I couldn’t see a Pyrenees ever being nimble enough to push around sheep or anything.

Get ours on steep and rocky terrain and she turns into a damn puma. I think Bill's floofs spend too much time on the couch eating bon-bons. 😛

ours arent allowed on the couch(yes i know some of you are going to call me a monster, but when the dogs weigh as much as an adult human it just doesnt work), they do have phenomenal balance(how many dogs do you know that can just stand in the back of your car while you drive?), just dont ask them to be athletic for an extended period of time (ok, the younger one will comply with athleticism but hes not pure pyr)
