just gets better. So we go to set this surgery up and the office says the doc only does outpatient procedures at this new outpatient center he is part of. We know of this place because our sons got 3 sets of ear tubes from a doc who also belongs to the place. The outpatient center is out of network. The ENT was like, oh you will get billed so that's why I still do them at the hospital. As a result 3 sets of ear tubes later 0 bills and still a fan of him.

Back to the ortho. He said sorry I only do them at the outpatient center. So you will se me in network, but only work on me out of network. His reply was I got to recoup some of the money i lose to the hospitals. I have been going to him for 20 years and understand he has to maximize his profits, but I have to minimize my expenditures. And you know insurance will slam me and do everything to cover as little as possible.

and it just went out this morning. back to being wrapped and limping. time to find another doc. i dont blame him, but $0. and no problems is my first priority not making him more money, right?

My doc does the same thing. Office visit is in network, any surgery he does is out of network. When he explained it, the docs get paid more if they are o-o-n than if they are in. Supposedly I'm only getting billed for my in network deductiable. Sounds logical, but I'm still looking around for a doc thats totally in net. Currently scheduled for Nov 2, so I still have a few weeks to scout around.

And the topper is- my doc is co-owner of the surgical suite along with about 20 other docs.

same thing here. i told him i got to go to someone who is totally in network.

1 day later his office calls back, oh he has agreed to do it at the hospital which is covered in network.

got to be ready to walk like a car sale i guess.:hmmm:

oh it all sounds great until after the surgery and the bills come in. you get passed off to billing and have to fight for everything. or you could just go in network and pay $0.
