Hey everyone!
New mountain biker here. Been road biking for a while now. Started racing this year. And picked up a mtb a few weeks ago to do some off-season training. I've only been out 4 times so far, but man is it fun. Will probably try a few H2H races next year. Look forward to seeing some of you on the trails.

Welcome to the boards and the off tossing side of biking 🙂 .. What trails hbe you been on and what type of ride you on?

First ride was Monday after the snow. With 5-10inches still in my yard, I figured local trails were a bust, so I drove down to Hartshorne. Then I hit Mahlon Dickerson a week later. Then last week I rode at Jungle Habitat. And yesterday I was in Ringwood.

I'm riding a 09' Fuji Mt. Fuji Pro, 26-inch hardtail.

Nice !! I been looking to getting down to hartshorne ... I'm surprised your riding with a hardtail lol I love my full suspension fatbike but it is heavy on these trails ... If you wanna ride ramapo lemme know , I am familiar w the area .

welcome to the site. Hartshorne is one of my favorite places to ride

Thanks. I had a blast at Hartshorne. First ride on my MTB. Very different than the trails up around here though.

from crosscountry to road racing to mTB......whats next.............
glad yo have you aboard

Hahaha. Thanks. I'm going to stick to road and MTB for a while. But, another cross country trip is in the back of my mind, just a different country this time....

Welcome, looks like you hit the ground running. Glad to hear your thinking of racing mtb this year. Besides the h2h races there are also some longer endurance mountain fatbike races if your interested.

Are you still gonna race road? what cat.
how old are you, curious to see what age group you'll be racing in for h2h.

Bryan Welcome to the forums..

Definitely still going to be racing road. Last year was my first year, raced collegiately, then did a lot of local races. Got my cat-3 upgrade near the end of the season. I'll be 28 (racing age) next year.
Don't know how that translates to MTB racing though.

If your a Cat 3 roadie this means you should do well in mtb racing once you get the hang of it. Racing road gives you a great fitness level, you just need to get used to mtbing.

Start in Cat 3 mtb class, when you feel comfortable move up to cat 2. There are no restrictions when going into cat 2 mtbing. To get to cat 1 mtb you have to have 5 top 5 finish's in cat 2...I think.
