Going to be in SW CT around Candlewood lake area for a few days. Hoping to get out and ride while I’m there. Any recommended spots within 30ish mins of New Fairfield area or loops you have? Trying to crowdsource here before I just look at Trailforks.

Looking at any type of MTB riding really. Flow or rocky tech is ok with me and anything in between! Thanks in advance!

Bonus if you have anything to take smaller kids on as well! (Macride/woom 3 pedal bike)

I moved up to this region a year and a half ago. There is a ton to ride in this area. You are right by Collis P Huntington which is great for intermediate riders. There is tech on the rock and roll and chimney trails, the rest is pretty tame and all can be ridden in a few hours. Rockhouse in Oxford I consider a tier above Collins because it is great for intermediate, but also has more tech. It is a bit climbier... the trail "On the Rocks" is techy and takes you up to a great view at the overlook of the Housatonic. Trolley Bed is my local jam. There's great tech and also intermediate north jersey stevens like flow. There is also a small system across the street that has wildcat like climby tech. Pine mountain/Bennett's Pond is great in Danbury it is super climby if you don't know how to link it up though. I'm a climber, but was cursing about some of the trails and the lack of "flow", but once learned, it's another awesome system. Further, but if you want to eat your teeth and shit your pants, go up to Satans Ridge at Nepaug State Forest. I still won't ride it. Also a bit further Burr Pond has awesome tech but it is less "send it and hope" style tech... areas give me a lot of Allamuchy vibes. Going back towards NJ off of exit 1 on 84 is Farrington Woods which has some cool stuff too... it also is creepy to me because it's this abandoned village like area so it brings me back to home to our OG location in NJ at the forbidden village in Mountainside. PM me if you need any routes. I also am fairly free this weekend and could probably take you through my local stuff.

I'll throw in Ninham on the NY side.
If you need a guide I maybe can hook you up as a good friend lives in Brewster and knows the park well. I wouldn't do it solo off trail forks because you'll miss all the goodies.

Try Farrington Woods in Danbury. Really fun twisty singletrack. The red area indicates it is restricted but I checked with the supervisor of the park commission that runs the place, he is also an MTB’er, and he said it’s fine to ride there.

Thanks guys! I will have to do some research! We are headed up Thanksgiving weekend Wed-Sat so trying to put together a few 1 hour ish rides while up there.

Satan ridge is closed for the season. You can still ride the rest of Nepaug. Ledges trail is still open which I think is still harder than satans kingdom.

Paugnut/Burr pond is cool if you like slow tech. Probably not worth driving far out of your way to ride there.
