Steve C1 is totally winning this thread right now...
It was neat to finally ride these trails after seeing so many videos about them. One thing that doesn't come across in video is how much climbing there is. One lap and I was cooked, although yesterday afternoon was my only chance to ride before the rain arrived and I was already pretty tired after 8+ hours in the car from AL.
When I finished this climb, I was expecting more of a view...
The blue descent makes you want to go fast, faster than my cooked legs and arms could handle. I followed three XC riders down, but only had enough energy to keep up for a minute or so. This is a surprisingly long run with a few fun gaps and hits if you have the energy... plus, I wasn't wearing any protective gear other than a helmet.
The entrance to the double black jump line has a filter. I didn't ride it as I was on the trail bike. I ran into another guy on an ebike who said all of the jumps are gap jumps and while "technically" rollable, the middles are filled with rocks, so...
And today is all rain... so no riding today and cutting the trip a day early so I can see an old friend in NoVA tomorrow and get a quiet day at home on Sunday before going back to NH on Monday.
