Hello Everyone!

Has anyone ever ridden this race or plan to ride it this year?

I would like to start casually racing this year (1st timer) in both road and mountain bike races, and this looks like a fun local race to challenge myself and see if I have what it takes to actually compete in the future. Has anyone ridden the 20 or 40-mile version of this race?

Any tips/advice on racing in general would be appreciated.

I did it last year and it was pretty fun. It's held on open roads so a little sketchy at first going around Lake Hopatcong but only for the first 1/4 if you do the 40 miler. It's a fast pace and pretty hill on the second half.

Do many casuals show up to this thing?

I would be showing up on an old, rigid mountain bike since I don't have a road bike. I don't mind getting smoked, but if I am the only one there getting smoked then it's no fun :hmmm:

I did it last year for the first time, and there were both serious, and casual people there.

It's a sweet event for every ability. Technically it's not a race - it's a ride. But there's always a group gunning to be done first. It's a great fundraiser for the Mt. Arlington FOP so get whatever bike you have and come ride either loop. It's a fun ride.

I'll be there for sure now.

Thanks for the info everyone.
