The DIY thread - DIYourself

Originally mentioned in the beer thread, since a beer was my "reward" for completing this long over due project. Built this firewood chopping block. I get firewood delivered from a local garden center, 2 cords. Most of it is still pretty chunky and hard to get burning in the fireplace, so I'll split some again when restocking the rack by the back door.

I'd collected most of the materials, except for the 2x6 and lag bolts. Everything else was on hand. While it took me longer than 5 minutes as advertised in this Youtube video, it was a quick project. My 28yrs+ old Dewalt 18v cordless drill couldn't handle the 1/2"dia x 6" long lag bolts, so they were dowsed with dish soap and started with the drill, but finished with a 1/2" drive ratchet.

Materials list:
(4) 4x4 cut to 26" long
(3) 2x6 cut to 26" long, (1) ripped to make (2) pcs 2.5" wide.
(4) 1/2" dia x 6" lag bolts
(4) 1/2" dia flat washers
bunch of #10 x 3" deck screws.
couple of 1/4" fender washers for the tire screws.
(1) 245/75R16 Firestone

there may be an embedded sensor for the floor with minimum temps set?
I don't think the aquastat would open a zone valve.

The aquastat was hooked up to z1 on the board and the green and red led lights were on opening the valve and spinning the pump. I didn't check for any other sensors besides the thermostats i'm not too familiar.

is there a mixing valve to reduce the water temp in the zone?

I'm working on some under-stair storage
the space is about 40" deep. opening is about 30w, 30"h
Couple of choices - put a door on, and "finish" the interior,
or box it, and put a slide out tray - maybe with a shelf (which will help for stability)
or finish it, and add a pull-out tray. Floor at tray level.

I have a set of 38" under mount glides - the area is near the front door, and there is electric baseboard about 5' from this wall.
It would be a good place to put a bench/coat rack thing, so at full extension, it might interfer..

Any opinions?

Always slide, no one wants to get down and reach for something inside.

Or a furnished reading room for a cat

Somewhere way back on this thread I documented my trials and tribulations on replacing the bathroom light/fan maybe 2-3 years ago?

Last week the LED panel in the fixture was flickering. Come to find out it’s a common issue with this Braun- NuTone model. HD still
Sells it too for $185 retail.

Contacted customer support and explained the problem and they immediately shipped me a new light assembly FREE NO Questions or Proof requested. The kit even had all 3 trim Option along with the mounting bracket.

Since it was plug and play it took me longer to clean the fan blades than to Install the new LED panel.

Easy peasy DIY for the win and very impressed with the customer support.

Last winter the furnace cut out. Knew it was likely the thermocouple. Had PSE&G come look at it just in case. Guy that came was super cool. Swapped out the thermocouple and did a quick once over and cleaning. Gave me tips about a couple of things that should be taken care of. Said the expansion tank needed replacing, which it did. So decided to give it a go before cold weather really hits. After some you-tubing and research and about $60 for the tank, things are back in business. All the zones were in dire need of a purging. Now all zones and furnace are nice and quiet. Should have done a purge long ago.IMG_5345.jpeg
