The Good Deals Thread

With all this snow, I started looking at upgrading my old bikes direct fat bike. Seems KHS is closing down as the owner is retiring. So there are a bunch of KHS 4 seasons 1000’s for sale for $700. The frame is updated as far as fat bikes go, ok group set, pretty decent deal imo.

Are you driving to Crosslake, MN to do local pickup only?

Sad to hear this, I still have a Flite 2000 as a trainer bike from when I did short triathlons 25 years ago. Very light and compliant bike, great build quality with aluminum main and carbon stays.

Don’t know if I am buying one, not sure how much they want for shipping. Boreals is selling Flume frames for $500 + $100 shipping. Much lighter and better quality frame but the geometry is a a bit off. I would also have to get a 197mm rear wheel. Corvus is also selling Skookum frames for $600, it’s geometry is very up to date but they have had some issues since production moved to main land China…..

Where were Skookums previously made?

What issues does the Skookum purportedly have? Myself and another person here have skookum afs and no issues at all. Built mine myself and everything was great quality. Bbs are a little low so run short cranks or 275s.

I'm realizing the Maxxis 26x4.8 run on the low end of diameter. They seem to be .25"-.75" less dia than other 26x4.8s I've measured. Think I'll try Bud/Lou next winter. Still considering 155mm cranks, but will probably see how it is with 29x3.0 on the spring 1st.

Edit: I'm one of the others with the Skookum AF.

The not main land China 😁. The issues are cracks and misalignment … per the inter webs so who knows. Looked up the shipping, the skookum is $50, the flume is $100 and the 4 seasons is free.
Are you referring to the previous generation carbon frame Skookum? The current AF is aluminum only and fairly new, carbon frame version is no more.
