I've had Sprint and Verizon before that. My wife still uses Verizon and it has never had an advantage over Google for service IMO. Google has actually been better for international use for us, it's free to use in a lot of countries.

Edit: I lied, I looked it up and calls are$0.20 a minute, everything else is billed the same internationally. If you make the calls over WiFi it's free. We've used it in Spain, Italy, Turks and Caicos, and Mexico with no issues.

this claim of being equal to verizon has me considering it, someone else said if you dont have steady wifi access during the day it hangs jumping between cell providers tho (since google piggybacks off other companies cell towers)

I haven't noticed it getting hung up on calls, may be because I rarely talk on the phone, but I have noticed that with the data. For example if the internet is loading as WiFi signal fades, it sometimes gets stuck until I turn off the WiFi. They did say that they just improved that though and it should now switch over seemlessly. I did start getting notifications today that said something like, "WiFi signal too weak, switched over to LTE.". So I'm thinking that might be resolved now.

Today only. Google Fi is having a pretty good promotion. Buy a phone and get that dollar amount back in travel credit. Basically makes the phone free. I think there's even more incentives if you're a new customer. If you were thinking of switching cell phone service the deal is hard to beat. I've been on Fi for three years and haven't had any complaints in service.

I think it said another new subscriber perk is an additional $200 service credit, in addition to the phone basically being free through travel credit.

Pending country calling Colombia it's .02 a minute. I don't remember seeing rates higher than 4 cents a min.
