2:03 Done Getting Wood
Snow on the trails is fleeting and thought I could grab one more good ride with the little park in Princeton. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't great in some spots either, somewhat due to a gravel bike that ventured through and left a 1.5" icy rut through half the place. While not that disruptive it is enough to catch your wheel and throw it around. I explored one trail I had not tried here and ended up having a tree mess on it.
0:58 Summer Winds
Took advantage of the summer day and mostly avoided a a direct headwind. The wind was making some scary noises lol.
Was totally planning a zwift ride until I took the dog in the yard around 10:30 and decided it was warm enough to ride even with the winds picking up. Convinced one of my local wfh crew to ride with me we kept it close because radar showed possible pop up shower. This time we went direct into the headwind first before looping back and enjoying the tailwind on the return. Wind was colder but not freezing. Sun was strong made it more than manageable.
Forgot to take any good pics and the lighter gloves i used don’t have the touch screen tips so it’s another selfie.
This thread was definitely motivation to get outside today even though the trails were likely crap (confirmed btw) and the road was going to suck with the wind (also confirmed).

1:15 Ice Spice
Nesh had a fair amount of ice, but also a fair amount of bare dirt and it also exposed where the Motos chewed it up before this last snow. With the rain tomorrow, everywhere is pretty much gonna be a mess. The only saving grace might be that the ground is frozen so hopefully a lot of it just runs off.
I brought my saw in the hopes that there wouldn’t be any trees down and there wasn’t, just a few big branches. I got out one of my shovels and cleared some multiple layers of packed down leaves that never really fully get grinded up, also opened a couple nics in places where I know they’ll be some runoff.
I had a goal of doing 60 hours in January, and I met that goal today.
Took a break from riding because I was unmotivated and then sick, but I managed to get out this morning. I thought there would be a snow free loop I could do today, but every trail still has snow. Surprisingly good all things considered, but the snow started getting too sloppy at the end.
Goal was 2 hours today because I wanted to move into 3rd place in the Martys club challenge. Lucky for me indoor rides count on that challenge too.
The obstacles today would be if work call came in and also if my legs just said FU after all this riding. Very surprised how good I felt riding at a casual to moderate pace. If I had more time could have kept going easily. I came up with a random loop in my head and at the 2 hour mark I was about 1 mile from home so that worked out perfect. It was overall a great ride not even that cold. except the part where even tho I clearly pointed to the car and the driver which way I was going at an intersection where I clearly had the right of way and he had a stop sign (I did not) he proceeded to pull out in front of me and I almost tboned his drivers door. 🤬
I also had a goal this month of 50 hours (compared to 42 last January) and today got me to 51+ with one day to go.
One last trainer ride tmw then taking at least a day or two off from riding and certainly a few days off zwift.
One last spin before the rain comes and destroys everything. So this is is for my January rides. I'm looking forward to my son outgrowing his bikes so I can steal them 🤞
