Some kind of poison got me good after some TM at nesh in early summer.

i'm currently on at least my 5th bout with PI this spring/summer. it's just something i've learned to live with. i've done the post ride, GOJO pumice scrub, and it definitely helps, but is by no means 100% effective. i'm currently using the last of my hydrocortisone prescription tube from last summer, and will be re-upping soon i'm sure!

i think of PI as my trail maintenance red badge of courage!

I was a landscaper for a few years and even tho I’m not very allergic at all my boss (who was) always had dish soap in the truck apparently it’s an oil the plant had that people react to and dish soap is gray at cutting oil. I can only assume catching it early is the trick.
I really feel for you guys that suffer from it. The few and mild reactions I’ve had sucked.

Post ride I was down with dish soap if I fall into brush have not had an issue since and I'm hyper allergic

Dish soap sounds like a good idea. I'd used a couple of different citrus hand scrubs in the past but still had some instances where I got it and wound up on a steroid.

Dish soap and a wash cloth work great. That in combination with a garden sprayer with water.
I used that after every race at Stewart and it’s never not worked. I actually had a line of PI from where I missed a spot. That was only once though. After that I was more careful.

We could probably use a chigger bug attack thread as well.
I’d take poison ivy over what my legs look like after a few hours of allaire & Mercer - Like piranha’s got me.
Only that helped was Benadryl lotion .

Yes, can we please talk chiggers? I lived in Africa for a decade and thought it doesn't get any tougher in dealing with the natural world: black mamba snakes, crocs, hippos, elephants, buffalo - all stuff that can kill you on the spot. Then I moved to NJ and found it gets worse: no see ums, lyme-carrying ticks, PI, and worst of all: CHIGGERS. I don't know much about chiggers but a lot of my suspected PI poisoning over last 2 seasons seems to actually have been chigger bites. I know you can't see them in their maneater larva stage but I haven't seen any adults either... How do you confirm a chigger infestation and how do you kill those f%#&ers???

Almost went to urgent care after my last Allaire visit coulda been Mercer too - high grass area .
I bought Kevlar hockey socks this week .

Your body responds by hardening skin cells around the saliva, creating a tube, or a stylostome through which the chigger sucks the host's body fluids. Chiggers can stay attached and feeding for several days. Usually they last about 4 days before falling off.

I do my trail running at Mercer, so that could partly explain why my ankles also looks like your photo, but I seem to get those bites simply when I'm doing a BBQ in my backyard....
