Things that make you frown :(

Years ago I got clipped doing 53 in a 35 on 206 right by Salt in Byram.
It is normally a 50, but was set to 35 because it was designated a construction zone.
Anyway, a cop had recently been hit and injured or killed (I forget now), but they were extra keen on patrolling at that point.

Okay, I guess I’m going to court then.
Day of court, I sit through allllllll the DWI cases. That’s the bread and butter in Sussex Co.
And man, for real, even a first offense is bad news. Call an Uber kids.

After hours of this, the rest of the cases come up, including mine.
Prosecutor starts side barring with all defendants, and it’s let’s make a deal.
Invariably everyone already has points, and he’s able to still bleed them pretty good.

Dudeman gets to me and asks about my license- it’s clean yo. He looks really bummed. No leverage. Shit. Okay.
Just agree to what i say up there.
$40 fine, no points, just cost me 4-5 hours of my life.
Judge couldn’t believe what was happening, everyone else dropping Benjis to avoid points.
I possibly made things worse. Due to work hours and family issues I did not realize I had to contact the court at least 5 days prior to the last date to pay the ticket, since the ticket is due on 9/7 that option has gone bye bye. I went on an posted a plea request on line with the prosecutor arguing that given the circumstances I was willing to pay the fine but asking them to wave the points. Unfortunately, once I posted the request I was prompted by a disclaimer advising that a non U.S. citizen admitting guilty to a traffic violation could result in deportation, green card revocation or denial to a citizenship application…enter serious panic mode. Like very serious panic mode. I contacted one of the 3+ law firms that wrote to me the day after I got the summons and he mentioned that Secaucus will turn my violation to one that doesn’t require points but the penalty would rise yo $400+ on top of the $225 flat fee from the attorney, dudeman said we’ll talk on Tuesday…I did some research and it looks like it would take something much more serious than a left turn from the right lane to warrant deportation, but I would have to report the violation on the citizenship application form, or be considered suspicious for not reporting past law violations…so looks I got myself some worrying to enjoy for the next 3 days, which is an outstanding way to spend a long weekend…seriously FML! I suck!

Your situation is different being a non citizen, but they typically hand those deals out all the time. So much so that you can only use it a certain number of times within a given time period. I don't remember the specifics, but I have been close to the limit a number of times in my younger years. You really shouldn't need a lawyer to get it. In my experience, with minor traffic violations, having hired lawyers and not, the outcome is typically the same. Only difference is that you're also paying lawyer fees with a lawyer.

Checking on your favorite secret DH track and finding that a massive tree has fallen across the trail. 🙁

I know the feeling, todays ride.

That I'd take. At least you can build a jump over the stump. Ours looks like this...

The rubber ones on my frame have a little slot cut in them and can go around the cable without pulling it out kinda like in this pic. Maybe you can just cut a slot in yours if you haven't already pulled the housing out?

2.5 miles from home on a stretch of 41N. My Garmin varia rear blinky + radar cuts loose from the ridiculously thin and wide systemsix seatpost. I watch it bounce on the road a few times parallel to me in the traffic lane before a car runs over it and smashes it into a pancake. RIP!
