This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

But after four weeks, antibody levels began to drop off in people who got boosted with the Pfizer vaccine while they continued to increase in people who got J&J's vaccine. J&J's vaccine also increased the numbers of immune cells called CD8 T cells.
Antibodies are a first line of immune protection that can stop a virus from ever infecting cells, while T cells come in later and destroy infected cells. This T-cell defense doesn't prevent mild infections, but can stop them from progressing to severe disease.
While the study did not include the Omicron variant, Barouch said the findings may be important for coming up with ways to fight the latest variant.
"For variants such as Omicron that might partially evade antibody responses, CD8 T cell responses may be particularly relevant for protection," he said. "We think they're relevant in general but they may become particularly relevant if a variant emerges that can largely escape from antibodies."

A 65 person trial is not powered nearly enough to come up with these types of conclusions, they posted it online BEFORE peer review to get into the news, and J&J/Janssen funded it. Take this study with a grain of salt.

Was going to take it with a booster.

24 hours post Pfizer booster and starting to feel almost human again, just a ~100 degree temp and headache. I think I'm young enough to elicit a strong immune system response but old enough for it to kick my ass.

I would mix it with a classic Margarita or Manhattan, do it in style.

Joking aside, if you're immunocompromised, I wouldn't do shit unless I spoke with my Dr. first. I know a guy who is a transplant patient that got a booster that was different than his first 2 doses, had to go to the ER due to anaphylaxis. A few of these vaccines may be technically the same (same technology), but the excipients are different.

As the C19 science evolves, the rates of deaths among the unvaccinated v. fully vaccinated changes month to month. The CDC has statistics on death rates on its website through September that is linked in the NPR article above.

The risk of dying is 14x among the unvaccinated.

DEAD PEEP

Of course, I should check this fak3 news with my retarded fucked up in the head friend Quasi, who is an unemployed pest control services salesman, who does his own research.

Right now, the death rate nationally is increasing again (is this the fourth or fifth wave?) to almost 1,300 dead bodies per day.

C19 NYT article

Excerpted below:

"More than 55,000 coronavirus patients are hospitalized nationwide, far fewer than in September, but an increase of more than 15 percent over the past two weeks, according to a New York Times analysis. The United States is averaging about 121,300 coronavirus cases a day, an increase of about 27 percent from two weeks ago, and reported deaths are up 12 percent, to an average of about 1,275 per day."

Is the method of death count still "Covid related" as in; a person had a heart attack and could not get proper care due to Covid patients over loading the medical facility, and died, therefore it is a Covid related death?

It does not look that way based on this site:

but the internet doesn't always make it true.

Interesting numbers in the table. If the "excess deaths" above 2019 are 503k and drug overdose increase is about 21k, then the change is about 483k, which is very different from the 345k directly attributed to C19. My sense from reading the excess death analyses in previous articles is that there may be deaths for non C19 causes that are related to and in part caused by the C19 conditions.

Friday, my client had a Christmas party in NYC. The CEO raised the issue of a significantly lower rate of flu deaths being reported in 2020. He inferred that flu deaths were being misclassified as C19. I told him that I like to look at the numbers. The reductions in 2020 flu deaths from average is <20k. That is not a significant number in the context of C19 deaths. Of course, he had his red Brioni tie on, so..

Please reduce the political tones.
Correlated does not equal causal.

Also, remember there are real people behind the numbers too.
That's what makes it so much worse. Good people are dying because they are taking a political stance and deciding not to get vaccinated. I'm kinda sick of seeing people die for no good reason. At a certain point you start to not feel bad about people who refuse to get vaccinated without a good reason. Why do they trust the science to try and save them when it's too late, but refuse to trust it for prevention? That's the world we live in today, I guess. No one wants to try and prevent anything bad from happening, they just want a quick fix when shit goes wrong.

I don't think they are taking a "political" stance -
I'm more of the opinions that it is a "you don't tell me what to do"
and serious mistrust of the government - any government.
throw in a little bravado - "we don't need that crap, we lived through....."
to round it out.

sure, there is misinformation, because those reasons aren't good enough on their own.
They are the only reasons left after the valid ones of those who can't vaccinate (any vaccine.)
And those who just want to wait until there is more than a couple years of data.
I've mentioned that I can accept this - at least it is based in caution.

While the vaccines look like they are helping in the short-term by all measures,
there is still the idea of long term effects - which don't matter if *you* are dead.

Mostly agree with your last sentence.

This - it is more than just political. That is one component, but when you look at a county scale, you are also looking at rural vs suburban/urban and economic status - both which relate to % vaccinated.

Reactions: don

My Chiropractor just died on Friday after being on a Ventilator since Sept. 1st. He was a Trumper, Anti-Vaxxer, and then they unplugged him to "Let God Heal Him". The posts by his wife are heartbreaking because she's into SCIENCE.
