Trail Maintenance - Wednesday September 16th at 6pm.

We did 3/4 of an assload of work in no time flat.

When you see what we did you will smile.

It was nice to fill my shoes with dirt again. It has been way too long.

Thanks

Our 1st weekday trail session was a total success.

We had 9 people put in 19 hours of work tonight.

Jdog and I would like to thank the following people for their hard work tonight:

Rick Soden
Michael Gall
Conrad Demich
Bob Sandor
Tyler Smith
Adam Nawrot
Brandon Lauerman

Together, we were able to trim a bunch of trail overgrowth, close off a muddy and unnecessary section of trail, raise the trail tread in 3 muddy spots, and install a few water nicks.

Excellent work was done by all who came out tonight, great job guys!!!

Great session out there last night and great work was done. Sorry that I wasn't at 100% last night guys. Guess this chest thing is still bothering me more than I thought. I will be back with vegance next time though. :getsome:

My left arm is not working properly from swinging that brush cutter back and forth, but it was totally worth it- I hate sticker bushes & many were slaughtered!

I rode it the other day and I smiled. Too bad it takes 6 guys 2 hours to build a feature that you ride in .02 seconds.

I know but the fun factor is soooo worth it! The guys I rode with last night had smiles as well which makes it worth it as well considering 3 of them drove over from PA to ride.

But we will enjoy that .02 seconds over and over again!

This area needed help so bad, its nice to get another problem spot off the list.

i have not ridden this section yet, but am looking forward to it. I would assume the rollers need another good packing and shaping and then will be good for awhile. I would love to work on them if I ever get over there again....

Actually I was suprised last night they were good shape. They were not soft at all. My guess is that they have been ridden over alot in the last week and have been packed by all the tires running over them.

I contemplated dragging the gas powered tamper out there but I think they will be OK. I think another 20 wheelbarrow loads are in order to build a proper berm at the end. You can hit that section with crazy speed.

We had good timing on their construction for sure. The soil had just the right amount of moisture in it for us to get things firm with tamping. Then we had light steady rain that night, then dry windy weather which really firmed things up.

Fixing this section makes the entire area one of my favorite sections of the park. Climbing those switchbacks and flowing down the hill into those pumps is fantastic. The mud holes were spaced perfectly to make this solution a perfect fix.

Once the winter comes, We want to get a good look at fixing the trail going topwards the stream crossing. That section really took a hit this summer. Lots of holes and damage there.

I have pretty high expectations when it comes to this stuff. If you look in the other berms and jumps thread, you will see the stuff I used to build. I am sure it is good, but rollers need a lot of work after they are initally built before they are perfect, mind you, most people probably wouldn't see the stuff I would criticize

Yes a berm would be sweet there. It would force you into a better line up for the bridge right after it as well. Also need to complete that berm at the top side of where we closed off that trail.

the berms on the other downhill before you link back into old trail never got any love after being intially built either. I would complain about it, but I have not done shit for trail work this year....

This is why we should pick locations for these features wisely. With 14 miles of trails that have countless turns, berming every corner spreads us thin on maintaining them.

I am about to go back to my winter "berm troll" mode. Unfortunately I have the cross bug and after doing 6 rides in the last 5 days, I didn't feel like diggin today.

Let me know when you want to go out there. I will drag my trailer.
