Two part question re: Six mile run

Curious -- how is six mile run in the snow, and how is it on a cx bike? (studded snows on the cx bike at the moment..)

Thinking about trying to get out there next weekend if the temps stay the way they're trending.

u r my hero! studs on a cx.....

have had my best times (strava) on my cx at 6mr. also has a bad crash, but we've eliminated that muddy, off-camber corner.

totally ridable, as long as there is no mud. take some video!
 
Saw a guy (and his dog) at 6mr this afternoon on a CX in the heavy, icy snow. Seemed his thin tires cut down into the snow better than my wider knobbies - but don't know how far he got. Every uphill section was a struggle

I havent ridden anything but a cx bike at 6 Mile in about 2+ years. Whole loop is fine, certain spots you just need to pick a better line.

Cant say how well you'll do in the snow as Ive never used studded tires. Good luck!
 
I've used studded CX tires. Although they are great on hard-packed snow and ice, I found them to be useless everywhere else. The CX tires will cut through snow down to the ground underneath but they suck if you are trying to ride through the tracks and footprints of others. They can't cut through and can't float over. You just get bounced all over the place.

The studded tires were so limited in their use that I just sold them after a year or two. I think I had one ride that they made the difference between riding and staying inside.
 
my thought is going through on Sunday will be too muddy and damage the trails, no? rain saturday and high temps saturday and sunday..

if you are looking for a terrible terrible time at six mile, you should go this weekend, it will be perfect conditions to show you how bad it is 😉
 
It's going to be 90 tomorrow after being sub freezing for a week and 6 inches of snow. Do you think Sunday will be ok? Better if it rains all day tomorrow?
