Its a great phone. In a few days you will be a pro and loving it

Anybody who has 2.2 (froyo) should download the chrome to phone app. Then install the chrome to phone extension on your PC's browser. It lets you send links, and maps from your browser to your phone.

For example, you can go to google maps, get a particular route mapped out, and hit the send to phone button.....and BAM...it opens it up on your phone. Pretty damn useful....

Does this work with Chrome only? I'm a Firefox junky

According to the article in today's NY Times, Chrome to Phone was released as open source software, so developers are already working on a firefox version. It won't be long.

jeremy, you may know this. can these droid phones sync with itunes? i'm no mac fan boy but the simplicity of that keeps me with the iPhone.

I wasn't clear.... they do have it for Firefox... fox to phone.

What are you specifically looking to sync? I don't personally sync anything on my Droid with iTunes. I'm not sure if you can or not.

I do not think sync software is required to play music on basically any modern non-apple smartphone. I simply copied music files to the music folder on my BB and they were indexed automatically.

Apparently the Droid is just as easy and will work with mac (just have to find the music folder in your itunes directory): http://www.ehow.com/how_5596820_transfer-music-motorola-droid.html

Yea...but I think iPhone users sync a whole lot more than music through iTunes. Pictures, contact info, apps, etc, etc. I don't think there are any apps out there that do any synching from iTunes to a droid beyond music.
That's why I asked Jake what he was looking to sync.

I transferred all of my "media" type files from itunes by simply dragging and dropping them. I don't have any experience with contacts, calendars etc. since they have always been on the BB Exchange Enterprise Server - but someone in my office used this (http://www.aniosoft.com/iphone-contacts-transfer.html) to download contacts, etc from his old iphone when he decided to get back on the company Exchange servers. Could be a place to start...

my contacts and calendar are a non issue since they all live in outlook and outlook syncs with everything. not to mention i'm on an exchange server.

i think the answer to this is yes, but don't iTunes song ONLY play on mac products? if that's not the case and i can simply download the music then drag/drop files that's all good.

You mean the songs you bought on iTunes? I assume you bought the apple DRM protected songs. If so, your probably SOL as far as a simple solution is concerned. You could convert the songs to an unprotected format but that's a pita.

But what the hell do I know???

so the answer is yes, huh? hmmm. maybe time to start looking 'round. jeremy, any thoughts on a carrier? 😀

I totally forgot about the protected media files. None of my music was purchased through i-tunes... Sounds like a bummer... I wonder if itunes will let you re-download the new version since you already paid for it. Worth shooting them an e-mail I guess.
