Verizon Droid

i do have the incredible. i love it. best phone i have had. im sure whatever phone i get next will be better.

there are many tricks to save your battery, but as its been said get used to always chargin your phone. its really not that big of a deal.

I think my Droid is noticeably faster. Its definitely an improvement.

Are there any LTE phones in the works that are running "vanilla" android? I'm sure this is a question you're not at liberty to answer....But hey you've gotta try 😱

I haven't played with any of the new LTE phones. Ive been focusing on modules and m2m stuff so my exposure to customer handsets is limited these days.
The thunderbolt has been getting some very positive reviews. That should be a sign of good things to come. It will only get better.

This is the 'leaked' list of upcoming Verizon headsets. With all leaks, take it with a grain of salt as to the exact release dates. But AFAIK, all of the upcoming 4G (LTE) Verizon Android phones will run some bastardized version of Android.

But Cyagogen is your friend...

y is my fascinate still running 2.1? where's my froyo update? is it samsung or Verizon?

It's either Samsung or Verizon. That's the problem with the "skinned" versions of Android (with the phone manufacturer's customized user interface). Google releases Froyo, then Samsung has to modify and embed their skin into it, then Verizon has to sign off on it and push it out to the phones. Hence why I was looking for a phone with a "vanilla" (ie unskinned, pure Android) release like the original Droid. FWIW it takes a long time for Motorola/Verizon to get an update out to this phone without having to deal with the skinning.

free mobile hotspot is tits!!

Much like the fish tacos

Its basically a stock image file that will restore your phone to its original state. Its pretty easy to do, you can Google it and a ton of info will come up. If your not comfortable with messing with your phone/rooting though it may be something to stay away from. I've saved my phone a couple of times after some experimentation home wrong.

i just reset to factory defaults, something i was considering anyway...it ended up resetting to a factory default gingebread. strange, but i'll take it...gonna look into seeing if i can restore some apps and pics with Lookout now...let's see if that app was worth it all this time...

Is anyone getting the Bionic? I'm ready for a new phone but I can't decide whether I should get it or hold out for the possibility of the Droid Prime. I'm tempted to send a PM but I know the answer is "I can't tell you that" 😀

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to see how the reviews look and then decide. Battery life seems to be the Achilles heel of the LTE phones so far. Also, I want to see how bad Motorola fucks up the OS with their customizations. I hope it's not too thick and bloated like the rest of the LTE phones on Verizon.

The bloatware will always be there unfortunately. Only way to kill it is to root and either freeze the apps or install a ROM. The battery life is better than other LTE phones based on the few reports I've seen. The only real appeal of the Prime would be vanilla android 4.0 but its yet to be determined what that phone actually is. And you can always go that route with a ROM on the bionic. I'm just leaning towards the bionic at this point.

BGR just checked in with their first impressions of the Bionic. Looks promising.

I'm waiting for the HTC Vigor. It has a more powerful processor than the Droid Bionic (1.5 ghz Dual Core to 1 ghz Dual Core) and is supposed to have 'Beats by Dre' audio built in, whatever that means.

Also, I like HTC's Sense overlay on Android, and HTC has always made it relatively easy to root the device, so the Bloatware will be easily removed.
