Watches

@tonyride My brother spends most of his time now in Japan and has a place in Kyoto. He collects watches but never heard of Kuoe so he stopped by. Shop was very busy with all gweilos. He thought it was like the American Girl doll or build a bear version of watches. Though watches were available immediately unlike some other Japanese makers he's on the wait list.

I think they're opening up boutiques in the US. It's still considered a micro brand so I'm not surprised he has never heard of it.

I used to rotate between several favorite Amish watches. Now I must be 8 years into Apple Watchdom and living my best life. Eventually I’ll have to do something with my Dad’s Submariner…

Unless you're a collector, watches for me fall into the buy-once-cry-once category. If you want a workhorse, get a Rolex or Omega. They're some of the few manufacturers in that price range that make their movements in house and with a 10yr maintenance interval.

Agreed as far as mechanical watches go. If you want to include quartz I would add Tag Heuer to the list. My daily beater is a Tag I bought over 30 years ago and it is still pretty accurate comparing to the atomic clock but the bracelet and bezel is getting pretty beat up. I went to my local jewelry store this past weekend to checkout possible replacements and also put my name on a list.

I like the look of the Vanguard but I'd feel like I was wearing a Panerai knockoff.
Totally. I'm not a fan of most "homages" which are really clones with a different logo. Those San Martins and Paganis are not my cup of tea

I got the venturo field watch as a fun field beater. Just $339 with the promo code 2024BFCM100.
