Let's start throwing out dates and times to get together. Tues,Wed, & Thurs. are clear for me in the am around 10....

I am good those times as well as Sunday for anyone not racing SS.

.... good luck to all the SS-a-paloozers!! 🙂

Since I didn't make the wednesday ride and I am not riding SSAP I am good for a way way loop on sunday 🙂. Morning is best for me. I have some things to take care of in the afternoon.

Did you end up doing a preride on Sunday? I am curious what the loop is like. I haven't been training to race, but I kind of want to do the race.

I have done the course: It starts with a few miles of gravel and paved road which may be a disappointment to some but Cat 1 and 2 only do it once. The rest of the course is mostly a mix of double track and single track with numerous rock sections, some muddy areas and a few connecting fire roads and places to pass. Hemlock is in the middle and by far my favorite trail to ride in the race. Although there is some road in the beginning, I think the overall race is rocky enough to get your rock fix at race pace. ... you also may need to wash your bike afterwards 🙄. Those darn swamps and beavers!

i went pre riding and got a little confused in the gasline to old coal area. are we supposed to go through the mud bog and cross the gasline at the higher location or the lower one.

You do not cross the gas line at all. You want to take right on hemlock, which is not named on map, but goes along the gas line to start and then along the lake.

So Mark and I will try to get to pre-ride the Cat 2 course this Friday...weather depending, around 11am, and anyone is welcome to join. Does anyone know if the course will be marked by then? I am horrible at map-reading.

thx on saterday i crossed the gasline and ended up on clinton road
so that means i went the right way on sunday. And is Iron mtn trail the rd into waway b/c their seemed like an excessive amount of pavement at the beginning of the cat 2 loop

I won't be getting there to pre ride, or even race, but we will try for a group ride there soon after ....

Clinton Rd? yes, you overshot by quite a few miles. Coming off red dot. make left on cheery ridge, stay right at Cherry ridge T, left at Banker T and make right onto first double track. Take right into hemlock.

To my knowledge Iron mtn trail rd is not in the race. We take pavement for a mile to Black Eagle.

Alex - not sure if you can make it later, but Lance and I will be there around 3:30ish Friday 😀
